The Cultivate Community has been busy! Here are some of the ways that we have been investing in the lives of young adults and partnering with ministries to foster community, growth, creativity, and purpose in the next generation.
April 6 - GBCH Prom
Cultivate loves the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home because they work tirelessly for the next generation who have lived through difficult and tragic circumstances. Through our partnership with GBCH Activities Director, Beth Everett, Cultivate artists were given the opportunity to help create set design for their prom. The garage at the Cultivate House became “Design Central” and Nikki Boone and Luke Turley created tall 3D buildings. The prom was a big success and Cultivate friends helped the GBCH team to dismantle the set after the prom.
Cultivate will be back at the Children’s Home in July to do COMPASS for the older students. We are also looking into the possibility of Michael teaching cooking, and Nikki teaching art to the students there.
April 13 - Easter Eggstravaganza
Cultivate loves foster families. Foster parents are our heroes because they invest heavily in the next generation. For the third year in a row, Cultivate Kitchen provided a meal for Coweta County’s Foster Care Easter Eggstravaganza. This year, Michael Belford used his mad cooking skills and logistics to spearhead a wonderful Italian lunch for the families. Three other volunteers (Andrew, Heather, and Kevin) helped us to prepare the meal, and six volunteers joined us in serving the families.
April 20 - Secret Church
Cultivate loves learning God’s Truth. This year, we had 34 people join us for Secret Church as we spent 7 hours learning about prayer and fasting. David Platt taught prayer using literally every book in the Bible. It was truly life changing.
This year, the prayer focus was Somalia, so we prepared Somalian food for those who attended. Andrew lended his culinary expertise to help us cook incredible curry, lamb, and bambusas (Somalian samosas). We would not have made it had Bonnie and her dad, Bruce, not helped us to prepare the food. It was a wonderful, memorable night.
This month, we are back at it with COMPASS and premarital counseling, as well as exploring strategies for fundraising and vision. We appreciate your prayers as we invest in the next generation.
