Cultivate Updates - November 2025

A property has been donated to Cultivate for our transitional housing program! YES... In case you haven’t heard yet, we now have a house that will be renovated for this purpose. We will need to raise about $100,000 to complete the repairs and renovations needed but receiving this property is a huge leap in the right direction. Click here to give now.

God is writing this story. You just can't make this stuff up! If you missed our Annual Event on October 28, this is a quick recap of what happened…

In late August, we held a Real Estate Luncheon (mentioned in our last news post), to talk about the need for a transitional housing program in our area, what kind of properties might work, and what we need to consider regarding local zoning and restrictions. We mentioned we were praying someone would donate a property to us. After the meeting, one of the agents told us that very day a house had been donated to Crossroads Church which would be perfect for what we want to do.

Several weeks later, I inquired about the church's intentions for the house. I learned that it needed a lot of clean up, repair, and some remodeling and that they did not intend to keep it. I shared about what we believe God is leading us to do and asked if they would consider donating it to Cultivate. I was told it would be prayed about and discussed. I also asked if we could go look at it.

Elise, Camilla (our new intern) and I explored the house on a Tuesday afternoon. It was a former hoarderish home that needed some repairs, but we could definitely see the future potential of the property - A four bedroom house with a large family room, a large basement room, a workshop with several bays, a four car garage with an upstairs room, and a very large parking lot!

Five years ago, Elise had a reoccurring dream over the span of several months. In the dream, we had a new house, but the attic was full of trash from floor to ceiling. Every week or so, Elise dreamed that she was in the attic trying to clean out the trash, but getting nowhere. In her final dream, the attic was completely cleaned out. There was new carpet on the floor and the walls were painted. She looked down into the house and saw that everything was new.

As we walked through the property that day, Elise kept saying, “Man, this reminds me of my dream!” We circled the house together and prayed for the Lord’s will.

Friday of that same week, we were told the house was being given to us which enabled us to share that news at our event on Oct 28th.

In consideration of Giving Tuesday next week, please forward this update to anyone who you know who has a heart for what we are doing or to a business who may be interested in partnering with us. We appreciate your prayers as we seek to raise $100,000 for the needed repairs and renovations.

Those of you who were at our annual event on October 28, heard about “Tim,” the young man who is currently living with us, whose car, which he had for only 3 days, was destroyed by a deer.

We are happy to report that God has provided another vehicle... a much better vehicle for him. Litz Tire and Automotive partnered with us in helping him to find a really good, reliable and affordable car. “Tim” is so grateful!

We are so thankful for friends who have a heart for the next generation! Remember what the other one looked like after the deer...

RECENT VIDEOS...

The challenges of a homeless teen can be overwhelming. It is difficult for them to focus on school when basic needs are not being met. If you were not at our annual event, we would love for you to see the following videos we shared that evening:

Elise and Ken Update - What Cultivate is, what we do and why, and what we are moving toward now in seeking to provide a transitional housing program. This is a great video to share with anyone who wants to know more about Cultivate in general or specifically why this housing issue is a huge need for emerging adults.
Dr. Artie Ricaud's Story - Dr. Artie is a dentist with a practice in Fayetteville, GA called Artistic General Dentistry. On a recent office visit, Elise discovered that Dr. Artie had been a homeless teen. We asked if Dr. Artie would be willing to share his story. His journey demonstrates what a difference helping a homeless teen can make even if it just for a short time.
Interview with Donna Boyd - Donna is the Special Populations Coordinator at West GA Tech. For the last two years, Cultivate has conducted a hygiene service project for under-resourced students there. Elise and Donna discuss the issue of housing insecurity affecting many of the students attending school at West Georgia Tech.

We would like to introduce our new intern, Camilla Cueva. Camilla is strong in faith and passionate about helping the people of her generation. She is the queen of great questions and is shadowing Elise in COMPASS meetings. She is also a gifted artist.

We are excited to have her wisdom, insight, and talents for what we do at Cultivate. We can’t wait to see how God uses her in this role.

"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us. To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations for ever and ever! Amen." (Ephesians 3:20-21). God is SO GOOD!

We hope you have a fantastic Thanksgiving with your family and friends! Please keep reading because we have some unbelievable news to share with you and we are indeed BEYOND THANKFUL!
