Cultivate Updates - June 2026

Updated: Jun 23

Hi, Friends! We hope you are all doing well as we navigate the summer months! For us personally, the last few months have been contrasts of joy and sorrow. We are thankful for the Lord's grace when life hits from all directions!

The question we are asked most by supporters and friends these days is, “When will you be up and running?”  Unfortunately, the answer is “We don’t know yet.”  The delay is related to the need to have our property re-zoned to meet all of the Coweta County requirements for the new program.

We are so grateful that God has provided an advocate for us with those in the Zoning Department and that they are working with us to achieve the best possible path forward. That path has involved requesting a new or updated ordinance that better fits what we will be doing.

There are some other challenges as well, but so far nothing that we cannot achieve. We will have to convert one of the bathrooms into an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) bathroom, and to create a fully ADA compliant ramp up to the front door. We are working toward getting these projects scheduled.

Please continue to pray for us regarding the zoning process, and stay tuned!   As soon as we know the details, we will invite you to come and show your support at the public hearing for the re-zoning once that is scheduled.

After the ADA compliance renovations are done, we want to invite you to come visit the house.  We can't wait to show you around and pray together for the ministry that will take place on the property.  Thanks again to all of you who have donated funds and/or provided items through the Amazon Registry!

In the mean time, we continue to work on putting the other pieces of the transitional living program in place. The work is voluminous! We are grateful for True Charity, an organization and network which has connected us to the wisdom of other TLPs and the resources they use.

“Tim” graduated from high school this past month in a drenching downpour, but nothing could dampen his (or our) joy at that moment.  He defied the odds and is now moving onward and upward by attending Kennesaw State University in the fall to pursue a nursing degree.

We gave him a graduation party with his favorite foods.  His joy that day was uncontainable. We enjoyed meeting more of his friends and family, and getting the opportunity to celebrate him with them.

It is hard to believe he has been living with us for nearly ten months.  We are so grateful for the opportunity of getting to know him.  We are also grateful to those of you who have helped us to provide for some of his tangible needs while he has been with us.

Please continue to pray for him as he takes these next big steps.

We would like to introduce you to Louis, the resident advisor for the Cultivate House.  Louis is passionate about Jesus, is an intern at Crossroads Church, and is working on his seminary degree to go into full time missions.

We met Louis when he stayed with us after coming to Newnan to sign his Crossroads' internship papers last year.  We found in him a true humble heart for the Lord.

Louis is providing a lot of great insight as we design the transitional living program. He was a Resident Advisor during his college years and therefore has much of the right kind of experience to help in this way. We are so excited that he will be influencing the young men who will be living at the house.

On May 21, we were given the opportunity to speak to the Kiwanis Golden K Club about the what the Lord is leading us to do through the Cultivate House.  We met incredible men and women who have loved and served our community for years and were deeply impacted by their encouragement and willingness to engage in the topic of homelessness among the young.

On March 27th, Cultivate was invited to participate as a beneficiary in Crossroads Church's annual golf tournament. It was a morning of fun interaction with the golfers as they played the hole close to our tent.

At our hole, the golfer on each team with the closest ball had the option to buy a hole in one for 1$ per foot as measured from the hole. We are thankful for all those who chose to do this and up the ante significantly in most cases.

We greatly appreciate the opportunity we had to share about the ministry of Cultivate and receive a sizeable donation in the process. Thank you Crossroads Church!!

Love continues to blossom all around us. We have been privileged to engage in Pre-marital mentoring with six couples so far this year and I was honored to officiate the most recent of those weddings as well!

In a culture at large where the importance of marriage has been forgotten by many, we are encouraged by these young couples who come to us seeking to prepare for lifelong love in a covenant relationship before God! We are grateful to see how the Lord continues to use what we have learned through our own struggles to help others. This never gets old!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS...

It is hard to believe that this summer marks Cultivate's ten year anniversary. We love the journey that God has us on. Please mark your calendars for our celebration Monday, October 26, 6:30pm at Crossroads Church Thomas Crossroads Campus, 2564 Highway 154, Newnan, GA 30265. We can't wait to celebrate the last ten years which have lead up to our "New Horizons" (theme of the event). More info to come...

UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN...

This spring has also been a season of loss for us.  Ken’s mother’s health took a downturn at the first of the year.  She was hospitalized on April 2 and passed away on May 5th.  Words cannot express our gratitude for the legacy she leaves behind.  Please pray for Pop, Ken's dad. They were married for 73 years.

THANK YOU!
